Diane Drude Hartfield - 02-22-2009
Greetings from a Classical '57 grad!  (I'm reaching across the aisle here, in the spirit of the times).
At the CHS '57 50th Reunion we raised $10,000.00 for the Springfield Public School system.  To administer the funds we selected:  www.donorschoose.org/springfield
To date (Feb. 2009) $40,000.00 has been granted to Springfield teachers.
Our fervent hope is that other Springfield School alumni will join with us in this particularly important endeavor to continue funding.  Please take a look at the website, and feel free to email me if you are interested and/or have any questions.
And please, pass this info along to other classes.  Springfield needs us now.

Jane Sloat Killip - 08-30-2008
I enjoyed reading the messages from Richard Carver and Franklin Vester.
I grew up in Hampden with these classmates and fondly remember Richard giving a musical performance at our many assemblies at our school in Hampden.
Virginia Streeter is the only other classmate that I have read anything about.
I know Phillip Jones very well and plan on calling him soon to have a chat as I have not seen him in years.  He still lives in the same family home.
My husband and I are still enjoying good health and loving Virginia.
Good convertible and motorcycle riding down here.
I recently purchased a 1973 Volkswagon Bug (remember those) and I am having a ball driving it around our area.  I live in Charlotte Coounty and there is no stop lights in the entire county.
Ray keep up the good work.   You are doing a wonderful job with the site.

Ray Hunt - 08-27-2008
After four years in the Air Force, I graduated from WNEC and worked for Springfield Cast Product, Bodolay Packaging and MassMutual.  Retired in 1995 and have been active in attending 32 (and counting) Elderhostels around the country.  Love Wood Carving and painting.

An email from Richard Carver

After looking over the Tech57 website I should also mention that after college ROTC I served in the Army Ordnance Corp. 1964-66 with most of that time served in Germany.   I am currently retired after teaching for 34 years at Chicopee High School.
Thanks for all your work on the web site.

Ray Winberg - 08-08-2008
Today I had an excellent phone conversation with Frank Vester in Vermont.  Frank is in excellent health and his voice sounds just as vibrant as in 1957.  After Tech, he worked at the Springfield Newspaper and he served 9 years in the Natioal Guard.  He also worked 36 years for the Springfield Post Office and retired at age 57.  Frank and Red Greene get together to hunt periodically.
George Belcher - 08-04-2008
Carole(Allen) Belcher classmate and life mate since 1961 and I visited Ray and Lu Winberg recently at their home in Sarasota, Florida.  Much of our time together was reminiscing about Tech '57 people.  Ray and the entire committee; Judy, Jerry, Ann, Tom and Betty (shown across the top of the web site home page) deserve a tremendous amount of credit.  The work and dedication that has been put into tracking down classmates is awesome.

Carole and I have a new appreciation for this site, its' value and the fun we have exploring it and remembering.  We were active arranging the tenth reunion.  Then, many classmates not residing close to Springfield were accessible through family and friends.  Good thing because we didn't have the internet, or databases.  Even now, with the tools available, doing the outstanding job of our tireless administrators and committee deserves a most appreciative salute.

Get into this site, and keep in touch.  Old friendships should be renewed.

I called Marcia (Balaban) Hadler today and had a nice conversation.  She attended Baypath after Tech and moved to the Miami area in 1961 working as a Paralegal until retirement in January 2008.  Marcia has 5 grandchildren and enjoys reading in her spare time.  Her email has been added to our class data base so she will be informed of class news and events.
Clifton H. Aldrich - 05-16-2008
I actually graduated in 1958 but spent two years in class of 57.  Found this site through the 58 reunion site.  I may have known more people from 57 than 58.  In any case,  I will be attending 58 reunion in Oct of 2008.  First one for me.  I went to UMass for a couple of years, was drafted in the Army in 1961 and retired in 1993 as a Colonel.  Worked for Lockheed Martin Space Sector, retired in 2001 and have been an independent consultant to business and government since.  Live near Houston Texas with wife of 41 years.  Three children, 4 grandchildren.  Remember Neil D'Amato, Tom Marini, Bob Focosi, 'Deck ' Decker, Roy David and others I have not heard from for years.  thanks for the web site.  If I had known about the mini reunion I think I would have gone as a guest just to see who I could remember and who could remember me.

Walt Carlson called me today to tell me he will attend our mini reunion.  He gave me permission to post this brief bio info.
After graduating from Tech, Walt joined the Army and then worked about four years in banking (morgage lending and apprasials).  He worked for the Police Dept as a Detective for most of his career and was a part time roofer on the side.  Walt says he is in good health and can still climb today.
He and his wife Victoria have 3 daughters and 3 granddaughters and he lives in E Longmeadow.

John has lived 41 years in Feeding Hills MA,  His wife is Mariann and they have two children.  He has attended every Tech reunion.
John mentioned that he did not participate in after school activities because every day after school he worked at the A&P at 503 State Street.

Robert ( Bob ) Peloquin - 12-19-2007
If everyone who attended our 50th reunion had half as much fun as I did then they had an excellent time . My biggest surprise wasn't that I recognized more classmates than I thought, it was that more than three people remembered me. I hope I didn't wear on too many people .If I did it was unintentional.I must apologize however to Tom Marini.I gave him a hard time but in a joking manner. I love you Tom .You always hurt the one you love but I remember a few times during football practice when Tom threw a few hurts on me. Kudos to the entire reunion committee for such a successful reunion. If anyone is in the Orlando,Fl. area let me know and we'll get together. Great Reunion!!!

Virginia (Streeter) Richter provided this bio.

After Tech, I went to work at Monarch Insurance Co.  Married two years later and have two children.  I went into cosmetology and had my own business until  retiring in 2005.  We have seven wonderful grandchildren and we enjoy winters in Florida.

Mark Sirulnik wrote these words for our web site.

After Tech, I went to Penn, became an architect, married Laurie Saxon (Classical class of '59), had 2 children (Andy - Northampton, MA and Abby - Ossining NY) and now have 3 grandchildren. Was president of Alderman & MacNeish, Architects and Engineers from 1976 until my retirement in 2004. Our specialty was the design of educational facilities (123 in Massachusetts) including Springfield's Central High School which replaced Tech and Classical, Chestnut Middle School which replaced Chestnut Street School, Boland Elementary School which replaced Armory Street School, Milton Bradley Elementary School, and the proposed new Balliet Elementary School.
I am currently doing a little consulting work, serving on town boards, traveling and enjoying my grandchildren.
